The UK Budget through the decades

Following today's budget, we thought we'd take look back over the last 40 years. What did budgets contain, who delivered them, how much did a pint cost, and, most importantly, what tunes we're getting people on the dance floor?

In 1976 the average cost of a pint was 32p! Better than that Elton John and Kiki Dee had just released 'Don't Go Breaking My Heart'. The Chancellor that year was Labour's Denis Healey, who predicted an 'economic miracle' during his budget speech...

Little did he, and the British people, know but things were in fact set to get much worse, with the infamous 'Winter of Discontent' just round the corner.
