What’s the problem with globalization?
The problem is, models in favour of globalisation are making a lot of questionable assumptions. The idea that different countries are just ‘good at’ or ‘not good at’ certain things doesn’t make sense, and the international playing field isn’t as even as it could be.
Would it be safer to close ourselves off from international markets?
Some countries prefer to close off their borders to give themselves the time to get good at something, and then open them back up – much like we would lock ourselves in at home to learn a new instrument before entering into a national competition.
Are regional alliances a good idea?
